Get an Early Look at the Next Generation of SOLIDWORKS

The SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview Program is officially live! If you have an active SOLIDWORKS license, you can now explore upcoming features before the official release, test them using your own models, and share your feedback directly with the SOLIDWORKS R&D team.

The Preview Program runs from mid-July through mid-August, giving customers and partners several weeks to experience what’s coming next in SOLIDWORKS.

What Is the SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview Program?

The Preview Program gives eligible SOLIDWORKS users early access to the next major release before it becomes publicly available.

It’s an opportunity to explore new tools, evaluate how they fit into your existing workflows, and help improve the final product by providing feedback directly to the development team.

Whether you’re a product designer, mechanical engineer, or CAD administrator, the Preview lets you prepare for the upcoming release while discovering new ways to work more efficiently.

What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2027?

The SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview introduces several new capabilities designed to simplify product development and improve everyday design tasks.

Variability Tables

Managing configurable products is now easier with Variability Tables. You can define product variants, options, and numerical parameters that automatically drive dimensions and features, making it much simpler to create and maintain product families.

Chord Width Fillet

A new Chord Width option for Constant Size fillets gives you more control over fillet geometry. This helps maintain your design intent while creating more consistent and predictable models.

Sheet Metal Stamp on Bend

You can now create stamped features directly on bend regions in sheet metal parts. This reduces the need for modeling workarounds and better reflects real manufacturing processes.

AI and Productivity Enhancements

The Preview also includes access to recently introduced capabilities that continue to expand SOLIDWORKS’ AI-powered workflow.

Convert Imported Geometry into Editable Models

Using AI, imported STEP and IGES files can now be converted into editable, feature-based SOLIDWORKS parts. Instead of rebuilding supplier or legacy models from scratch, you can begin working with intelligent parametric features.

AI Drawing Generation with LEO

LEO, the SOLIDWORKS AI companion, can generate engineering drawings through simple natural language prompts. Specify your drawing template, standards, primary view, and other requirements, then refine the results before saving the finished drawing.

Content Explorer

Finding files stored on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is now easier with Content Explorer, which provides a familiar Windows Explorer-style interface directly inside the SOLIDWORKS Open dialog.

How to Join the SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview

If you have an active SOLIDWORKS license or are a SOLIDWORKS partner, you’re eligible to participate.

The Preview Program allows you to:

  • Test new features before the official release
  • Try the software using your own models and assemblies
  • Submit feedback directly to the SOLIDWORKS R&D team
  • Connect with other Preview users through the SOLIDWORKS Preview Community

How to Test the SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview

There are two easy ways to access the Preview.

Download and Install

Simply sign in using your 3DEXPERIENCE ID, choose the SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview release, accept the Customer License and Online Services Agreement (CLOSA), download SolidWorksSetup.exe, and follow the Installation Manager to complete the setup.

Run Online

If you prefer not to install anything, you can launch the same Preview version directly from a supported web browser. This allows you to explore the latest features without changing your existing SOLIDWORKS installation.

Installation Best Practices

To keep your production environment safe, SOLIDWORKS recommends installing the Preview separately from your everyday working environment.

For the best experience:

  • Install the Preview on a separate computer whenever possible.
  • Do not upgrade your existing production installation or Toolbox.
  • Use a dedicated installation folder for the Preview.
  • Store templates, design libraries, and other Preview files in separate locations.
  • Test using copies of your production files instead of the originals.

Following these recommendations lets you explore the new release without affecting your current projects.

Will the Preview Affect Your Commercial License?

No.

Although you’ll use your commercial serial number to access and install the Preview, Preview licensing is completely separate from your production license.

If your company uses SolidNetWork License (SNL), you can even set up a separate Preview license server that mirrors your production environment, allowing your team to test SOLIDWORKS 2027 without interrupting day-to-day work.

Important Reminder

The SOLIDWORKS 2027 Preview is covered by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

This means Preview features, screenshots, videos, and discussions must remain confidential and should only be shared within the official SOLIDWORKS Preview Community until the final release becomes public.

Ready to Explore SOLIDWORKS 2027?

The Preview Program is the perfect opportunity to see what’s coming next before the official launch.

Whether you’re interested in AI-powered design tools, smarter configuration management, or improved sheet metal workflows, now is the time to test the latest capabilities using your own projects and help shape the future of SOLIDWORKS through your feedback.

Enjoy the Preview, explore the new features, and be part of the journey toward SOLIDWORKS 2027.
