CATIA Composer is a software tool that allows you to create technical content directly from 3D CAD models. You don’t need to be a CAD expert to generate high-quality visuals. Composer is commonly used for:
Technical illustrations – creating clear diagrams for manuals, guides, or instructions.
3D animations – showing how products are assembled, operated, or maintained.
Interactive 3D experiences – allowing users to explore products in 3D by rotating, zooming, or interacting with components.
Composer works directly with CAD data, so you can quickly produce visuals without rebuilding designs. It is widely used in engineering, manufacturing, technical documentation, training, and marketing, helping teams communicate complex product information clearly and efficiently.
The release of CATIA Composer R2026 introduces a series of enhancements designed to optimize workflows, improve compatibility, and expand functionality for technical documentation, product visualization, and interactive 3D content creation. This version focuses on providing users with tools that simplify complex tasks and ensure smoother integration with CAD data.
Updated Kernel: Version 20251.0.0 for better CAD compatibility and stability.
New Filename Templates: %collectionname%, %collectionindex%, and %viewindex% for automatic, organized file naming.
PNG & TIFF Support: Use these formats in textures, imports, and viewport backgrounds.
More Video Options: Animation frames in BMP, PNG, JPEG, and TIFF for faster, high-quality video creation.
Improved Workflow: Automatic numbering and file naming, plus smoother handling of large assemblies.
The kernel is upgraded to version 20251.0.0, as shown in the license properties page.
Why it matters:
Works better with the latest CAD files.
Reduces errors when importing complex models.
Provides new features for smoother workflows.
Two new template options, %collectionname% and %collectionindex%, are now available in the Technical Illustration and High Resolution workshops. The %viewindex% keyword automatically numbers new views.
Why it matters:
Keeps file names organized automatically.
Reduces mistakes and manual renaming.
Makes exporting multiple views or high-resolution images easier.
Composer now supports PNG and TIFF image files:
In the Texture Workshop
Imported as textures
As viewport backgrounds
Why it matters:
Provides more image options.
Supports higher-quality visuals and transparency (PNG).
Makes it easier to use standard images from other sources.
The Video Workshop now allows animation frames in BMP, PNG, JPEG, and TIFF formats. These frames can be compiled into videos directly in Composer.
Why it matters:
Lets you choose the best format for quality or file size.
Saves time by reducing extra video tools.
Produces better animations for training, presentations, or documentation.
R2026 also improves daily tasks:
Automatic view numbering and file naming save time.
More image formats improve compatibility with other tools.
Kernel upgrades make handling large or complex assemblies faster and more stable.
CATIA Composer R2026 makes creating technical content faster, easier, and more reliable. From smarter file naming to expanded image and video support, this release helps users save time, reduce errors, and produce high-quality illustrations, animations, and interactive 3D content.
could you please direct me to in depth video of how CATIA composer can integrgate into 3D Experience or ENOVIA. Im a CATIA user for a company we do not use Solidoworks.
Im trying to find a seamless solution for opening Models that were created in CATIA V5 for a TECH PUbs department. They dont want to export and import out of Enovia or 3D Experience
Could you add more controls to callouts? we have a gap of 0.6mm from an object to the beginning of a lead line what would be even better if there was a property for callouts where we could set a gap of 0.6mm from any part we want to callout from. It’s just a standard we use. Would be nice if you added a property windows we can change the size and width of Callouts. Some companies want a certain thickness to there leader line and size of text and bubbles. They want to conform to STD1000D. But working with other companies they always want that request. This avoids us from going to a 3rd software like Adobe Illustrator or Corel draw.
I have another request could you some how add a feature where we can control a spline and then add thickness to it, there are many companies that have a problem of routing CAbles, sometimes cables are not routed all the way and we Graphic Artist need to fix or add that extra step to route the cable so it looks like the engineering. It would really give us a lot of control and your software more sellable to a variety of companies.
To make it even more clear if there are 20 brackets and clamps we have to adjust the existing cable it would be easier if we had the ability to add a spline with control points and then add thickness. And the Spline would have control points where ever we click this way we can adjust to go inside the brackets and clamps.
Hello Another request, Would you be able to add some property windows where we could control a texture that would imitate fluids?
For Example at Siemens we had a LAB fluids in container and tubes, we wish that we had had a tool where we select a Tube or hose or Container and a fluid texture with all the property would pop up and apply, then add a property windows where we can adjust and animate these texture fluids. The maintenance, technicians and training love the fluids motion, because it helps explain. Color controls is important as well. Another sellable feature.
Hello
I have a request, could you add a simple Graphic editor control for the animation key frames, as an animator I like having control over the easy in and easy out in the Animation. Using a Graphic editor to control these really helps a lot
